<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vs_Qez0q0N8/UKjVngfU71I/AAAAAAAAAIQ/lUw86ijSVD4/s1600/IMG_0244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vs_Qez0q0N8/UKjVngfU71I/AAAAAAAAAIQ/lUw86ijSVD4/s320/IMG_0244.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I think these little bad boys cost me about 10p again and I'm really happy with how they came out!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h4s4hG8PQj4/UKjVtJFviJI/AAAAAAAAAIY/_sDNOWWC4X4/s1600/IMG_0247.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h4s4hG8PQj4/UKjVtJFviJI/AAAAAAAAAIY/_sDNOWWC4X4/s320/IMG_0247.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I continued with my technique of trying to use different shades of the same colour to make highlights and dark spots of the miniatures.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OitBnxus8vc/UKjVytjO5II/AAAAAAAAAIg/dmQSA6RnMYY/s1600/IMG_0250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OitBnxus8vc/UKjVytjO5II/AAAAAAAAAIg/dmQSA6RnMYY/s320/IMG_0250.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0iyZjyMbrbA/UKjV4He9YlI/AAAAAAAAAIs/C60iBJqNx98/s1600/IMG_0252.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0iyZjyMbrbA/UKjV4He9YlI/AAAAAAAAAIs/C60iBJqNx98/s320/IMG_0252.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Like i said, I'm really pleased with how they came out. I even added some stones to the archers to make it look like they were taking cover behind some rocks!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tpf2AFBfM24/UKjV9h0q8BI/AAAAAAAAAI0/agEajsMGAfk/s1600/IMG_0253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tpf2AFBfM24/UKjV9h0q8BI/AAAAAAAAAI0/agEajsMGAfk/s320/IMG_0253.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've got some more Dwarves coming in the post from Mantic Wargames. Their models are like the Games Workshop ones but are much cheaper! I'm going to use them as a base to a Fantasy army which I hope to show you the progress of over the next couple of months!<br />
<br />
I also have some Roman Auxiliaries to paint in the next couple of days!One Man's Armieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11430590207771447724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2569479197507594381.post-71767511962491194082012-11-06T04:41:00.002-08:002012-11-06T04:42:14.082-08:00Retro Skaven!Here's some pictures of my latest project. I got these Old School Skaven models off ebay for 10p! Which I thought was a bargain. Unfortunately, they didn't come with shields (hence the big holes in the hands) but I think I'll try and find some more on ebay to complete the models!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d7WmXfqxy2E/UJkCRBYz_QI/AAAAAAAAAH0/33pZs2c98vA/s1600/IMG_0231.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d7WmXfqxy2E/UJkCRBYz_QI/AAAAAAAAAH0/33pZs2c98vA/s320/IMG_0231.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really pleased with how the models came out and I even bought some static grass to give them a more realistic look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fib66MKMtVA/UJkCGsnpE6I/AAAAAAAAAHs/rIUPG2zuQRo/s1600/IMG_0235.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fib66MKMtVA/UJkCGsnpE6I/AAAAAAAAAHs/rIUPG2zuQRo/s320/IMG_0235.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
But, I will say that painting them was hard! I think it was because of the age of the models. It was hard trying to pick out all the detail such as the hair because the moulding was not that great.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oXFA3wjz6Bs/UJkDRsSRr4I/AAAAAAAAAH8/qDaw5TDatuY/s1600/IMG_0237.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oXFA3wjz6Bs/UJkDRsSRr4I/AAAAAAAAAH8/qDaw5TDatuY/s320/IMG_0237.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I hope you enjoy these pictures! I should have some more pictures of a group of Dwarves up in a couple of days. Also, I was thinking of painting some historical miniatures. I know that most of you prefer them to Warhammer and was wondering if you could give me any advice on sets/kits that would be good for a beginner like me! Cheers guys!One Man's Armieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11430590207771447724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2569479197507594381.post-47525923688115540402012-10-31T04:06:00.001-07:002012-10-31T04:06:51.837-07:00Retro Space OrksHello everyone. Sorry I'm a little late with this post, it's essay hand in week this week and I've been up to my eyeballs in work! Never mind though, here are some photos of the Space Orks I painted the other day, I hope you enjoy...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HblWYyuSA7U/UJEDVnDeu5I/AAAAAAAAAHA/0-3m-DRncFc/s1600/IMG_0204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HblWYyuSA7U/UJEDVnDeu5I/AAAAAAAAAHA/0-3m-DRncFc/s320/IMG_0204.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I bought some new paints to paint the Orks. I wanted to try highlighting for the first time so I bought some 'Warboss Green' to highlight the 'Kabalite Green' of the Orks' skin. I also used some of my own acrylic paints on the axe handled to make the wood seem a bit more realistic.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2wFx4SZ2P3E/UJEEHq7a_pI/AAAAAAAAAHI/wmgZajWT2Po/s1600/IMG_0206.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2wFx4SZ2P3E/UJEEHq7a_pI/AAAAAAAAAHI/wmgZajWT2Po/s320/IMG_0206.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Yn76GiAeoK8/UJEEQMCqXUI/AAAAAAAAAHU/9bUducVW2io/s1600/IMG_0212.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Yn76GiAeoK8/UJEEQMCqXUI/AAAAAAAAAHU/9bUducVW2io/s320/IMG_0212.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I tried to give the Orks different uniforms to make them seem a little more unique. I always imagined them to wear whatever scraps of clothes and armour they could find, so making them look different really fitted into my ideal!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KWZpcoNNYq8/UJEFYoO8X2I/AAAAAAAAAHc/MZRe4lHO4w4/s1600/IMG_0213.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KWZpcoNNYq8/UJEFYoO8X2I/AAAAAAAAAHc/MZRe4lHO4w4/s320/IMG_0213.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really pleased with how they came out, I just wish I had some static grass to make the bases look a little better (but they are Space Orks.... maybe they wouldn't be fighting in grass?) Nevertheless, I enjoyed painting them and I can't wait to get the other fourteen painted and move on to some new figures!One Man's Armieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11430590207771447724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2569479197507594381.post-64086506935041281072012-10-17T06:32:00.000-07:002012-10-17T06:32:54.514-07:00Look what came in the post today!They've finally arrived! I won these 18 'old school' Space Orks on ebay the other day for just £2.40! I'm going to use them to practice my painting techniques and to try some of the new acrylic paints that I bought yesterday, I hope they're as good as the ones from Games Workshop!<br />
<br />

I should hopefully have some pictures up of a few finished pieces over the weekend, I hope you all enjoy :)<br />

<br />
P.S. I didn't paint the painted Orks in the first picture, that's just how they arrived!One Man's Armieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11430590207771447724noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2569479197507594381.post-43253216685143671852012-10-14T10:15:00.001-07:002012-10-14T10:15:44.739-07:00Lego LOTR Shelob Attacks!Hey everyone! Here's a few photos from another Lego kit I bought the other day. This kit is based around the famous scene in the third movie, <i>The Return of the King, </i>where (obviously) Shelob attacks. In the kit you get Frodo, Sam and Gollum as minifigures plus a giant Shelob which was great to assemble! I hope you enjoy the photos.<br />
<br />
Here's the kit in all of its glory...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
'Give me the Ring, nasty little Hobbits!'<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cheers everyone for checking out my posts; should have some more Warhammer up soon and hopefully get some pictures of my first ever historical miniatures posted!</div>
<br />One Man's Armieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11430590207771447724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2569479197507594381.post-32335582367318371102012-10-11T10:37:00.000-07:002012-10-11T10:37:24.782-07:00High Elf Lothern Sea Guard- First Ever Paint!I've been wanting to get into painting Warhammer and Miniatures for a while but never knew where to start. I know there is a massive culture behind both of these war games and really wanted to become part of that culture and society (hence, why I started this blog!) So the other day I took myself down to my local Games Workshop and bought a Warhammer starter kit. This kit is of the High Elf Lothern Sea Guard and it came with eight different paints and only cost about £22.00!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a-k989dI5JQ/UHb8ZxNxfYI/AAAAAAAAAD4/0gxiSQiduC0/s1600/Paint+Set.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a-k989dI5JQ/UHb8ZxNxfYI/AAAAAAAAAD4/0gxiSQiduC0/s320/Paint+Set.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Please remember that this is my first effort in painting Warhammer and Miniatures. I know there is some amazing artist out there but at the moment I am not one of them! But I am pleased with how they came out. Here's how I painted them...<br />
<br />
Firstly, I painted on the base coat in 'Imperial Primer' and here's how they looked...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A_dFkUCut6M/UHb86_fTWWI/AAAAAAAAAEI/gqBpgS7oumQ/s1600/IMG_0153.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A_dFkUCut6M/UHb86_fTWWI/AAAAAAAAAEI/gqBpgS7oumQ/s320/IMG_0153.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Secondly, I started to apply 'Ironbreaker' to the armour, helmets, boots and chainmail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rORhll7QTVg/UHb-GqYmreI/AAAAAAAAAEY/gdT4NuJdDJE/s1600/IMG_0160.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rORhll7QTVg/UHb-GqYmreI/AAAAAAAAAEY/gdT4NuJdDJE/s320/IMG_0160.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fasbJH_gjmM/UHb-asvp_GI/AAAAAAAAAEo/ZIfnD0KAGHg/s1600/IMG_0190.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fasbJH_gjmM/UHb-asvp_GI/AAAAAAAAAEo/ZIfnD0KAGHg/s320/IMG_0190.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I painted the shields, sleeves and other clothing in 'Ulthuan Grey'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DssjKd74_oE/UHb-PSh0VWI/AAAAAAAAAEg/Z3qQvj9XNwk/s1600/IMG_0163.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DssjKd74_oE/UHb-PSh0VWI/AAAAAAAAAEg/Z3qQvj9XNwk/s320/IMG_0163.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6gqufEEq_nY/UHb-zU_qqOI/AAAAAAAAAEw/HFxgNVjUWNQ/s1600/IMG_0165.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6gqufEEq_nY/UHb-zU_qqOI/AAAAAAAAAEw/HFxgNVjUWNQ/s320/IMG_0165.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After painting the clothing 'Ulthuan Grey', I went and painted the strips in the banners, the gloves and the sash over the shoulders 'Caledor Sky'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HYrJZ_mFhLg/UHb_Ypiuu0I/AAAAAAAAAE4/dMwLl8NKPEU/s1600/IMG_0171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HYrJZ_mFhLg/UHb_Ypiuu0I/AAAAAAAAAE4/dMwLl8NKPEU/s320/IMG_0171.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gTVGWUPTCgw/UHb_fXA6raI/AAAAAAAAAFA/zISLCvL1y94/s1600/IMG_0172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gTVGWUPTCgw/UHb_fXA6raI/AAAAAAAAAFA/zISLCvL1y94/s320/IMG_0172.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I went and painted the dragon on the shield, the jewels in the helmets and the highlights around the bottom of the chainmail in 'Mephiston Red'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BiHHwVxcZac/UHcAPYZ_p_I/AAAAAAAAAFM/2KpSkRpvuG0/s1600/IMG_0175.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BiHHwVxcZac/UHcAPYZ_p_I/AAAAAAAAAFM/2KpSkRpvuG0/s320/IMG_0175.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
And finally I used 'Kabalite Green' on the bottom of the shields and on the remaining flag poles and insignia. Filled in the faces, hair and leather bags with 'Cadian Fleshtone'. And then washed over the hair, helmets, boots and spear tips in 'Nuln Oil' to give the Guards a weathered and worn look.<br />

Then for a little bit extra I painted a back drop for my figures (again, please remember that I'm new to painting lol!)<br />

I hope you all enjoyed my first shot at painting Warhammer. If you have any painting tricks or tips then please let me know about them in the comments below!<br />

What d'up guys! Here's a few photos from the new Lego Lord of the Rings kits that came out this summer. This first one is the Uruk-hai Army and comes with six minifigures; four Uruk-hai's (including a leader), Eomer and a soldier/archer of Rohan.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As Lego kits go, I thought this one was reasonably priced. It was only £29.99 and as you can see from my photos, you get a lot for your money (which is never a bad thing when it comes to Lego!)</div>

<br />
Here's the full kit in all its glory ;)<br />
